A meatless version of stuffed derma (kishke) made with grated vegetables and cracker crumbs, shaped into a roll, baked, and frozen for later use.

Ingredients

  • 1 stalk celery, grated
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 onion, grated
  • 1 stick (115g) margarine
  • 1 box Tam Tam or 8 oz. (225g) Ritz crackers - crumbs (in Israel: use plain crackers or matzah meal)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

    Mix all ingredients and mold into a roll.

    Wrap in aluminum foil.

    Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 45 minutes, place in baking dish as margarine drips.

    Freeze solid, and when ready to use cut into slices and heat in oven until brown and hot.
