Ingredients

  • 2c Tap Water
  • 4 Envelopes Quick Rise Yeast
  • 2 Tsp (10ml) Kosher Salt
  • 2 Tbsp (30ml) Brown Sugar
  • 1 Egg & 1 yolk - beaten
  • 1/3 c Oil (peanuts)
  • 1/2 c Honey
  • 3c White Flour
  • 3c Wheat Flour
  • Corn Meal
  • 1 Egg (for Egg Wash)
  • 1 Tbsp (15ml) Honey (for Egg Wash)
  • 1 Tbsp (15ml) Water (for Egg Wash)

Instructions

    Water, yeast, salt, br. Sugar - Stir to dissolve

    Add beaten egg + yolk, oil, honey - stir

    Add 3c White Flour + 2c Wheat Flour - beat 10 min

    Knead in remaining flour (both 1c wheat + 1c White)

    Knead for 10 min

    Put in bowl, cover & allow to rise until doubles in size

    Punch down & allow to rise again

    Punch down again, divide in half. Divide each half into thirds & braid. Sprinkle cornmeal on sheet pans and place one loaf on each

    Allow to rise until doubles in size

    Make Egg wash & spread on top (brush on)

    Bake 1hr at 350°F (preheat oven)
