- ●1½ cups (360ml) dates (pitted and chopped)
- ●2¼ cups (540ml) boiling water
- ●3 tsp (15ml) baking soda
- ●1 cup (240ml) walnut
- ●2 cups (480ml) white sugar
- ●3 tablespoon (45ml) margarine
- ●2 eggs beaten
- ●1 tsp (5ml) salt
- ●4½ cups (1080ml) all purpose flour

Instructions were not included on this page. Standard method: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Pour boiling water over dates and baking soda, let stand. Cream margarine and sugar, add beaten eggs. Mix in flour and salt alternately with the date mixture. Fold in walnuts. Pour into greased loaf pans and bake until a toothpick comes out clean, approximately 50-60 minutes.
