Ingredients

  • 1 lb (455g) walnuts
  • 3½ cups (840ml) sifted flour
  • 3 tsp (15ml) bicarbonate of soda
  • 3/4 tsp (4ml) salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 lbs (910g) sugar
  • Pitted dates
  • 1 cup (240ml) liquid from boiled/soaked dates
  • Hot water

Instructions

    Pour hot water over pitted dates.

    Mix eggs and sugar.

    Gradually add flour to the date and nut mix.

    Bake in greased bread loaf pans, filling 2/3 full.
