Ingredients

  • 1 lb (455g) walnuts
  • 1 lb (455g) pitted dates
  • 3½ cups (840ml) boiled water
  • ¾ tsp (4ml) salt
  • 3 tsp (15ml) bicarbonate of soda
  • 6 cups (1440ml) flour (approx)
  • 4 eggs
  • 2½ cups (600ml) sugar
